We have an internal channel on Slack for LGBTQIA+ spooners as well as allies to have a space to discuss topics connected to the queer community. In addition, we generally use the channel to plan events such as our participation in Pride, and providing a safe space where everyone can feel comfortable to be themselves and open up about anything that they might be struggling with, to other members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
It’s a weird name, isn’t it? We chose Bending Spoons after the iconic scene in The Matrix, where the hero discovers that what seems impossible often isn’t. In 2013, when we were a punchy little startup, the parallel seemed appropriate. Today, even more so.
That five-person startup has blossomed into 300-plus bright, curious, and inventive Spooners from more than 35 countries. Some of our apps have become household names. Take Splice—in terms of revenue, the world’s number one mobile video editor. Or 30 Day Fitness—the Health & Fitness category leader with over 60 million downloads.
Plenty has changed since those early startup days. But our mission remains steadfast. We’re still going all-out every day to improve lives through our products, our career opportunities, and our impact on the world. It’s a wonderful journey to be on!

As our company continues to grow, we want to make sure Bending Spoons always provides a space that’s comfortable for everyone, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, race or any other characteristic.
We strive hard to create this kind of environment, but there are still a lot of ways in which we can improve. We’re committed to learning how to best support our LGBTQIA+ Spooners and allies—Sticks and Stones will help us to connect with potential candidates from the community and find out how we could provide a comfortable workplace for them. In addition, we look forward to meeting other tech representatives, and understanding how they build a safe, welcoming, and considerate place for all of their LGBTQIA+ employees at their company.
We want to work with people who can provide high-quality solutions to the problems they’re likely to face in their role, and do so in a high-pace environment. That includes having what it takes to solve new problems that require thinking differently or learning new skills. Therefore, we encourage you to apply for any role that chimes with you, without worrying too much about whether you currently have all the required skills.
So, bring your passion and your talent, enthusiasm, and drive to create massively successful tech products. We deeply believe that thinking differently is one of our core strengths, and so how could we not embrace diversity? To decide whether we’d like to work with you, we only look at your talent and values, and not at your skin color, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, muscle mass, hairstyle, or dog/cat preference (OK, bonus points if you prefer dogs).
